Apprentice Scaffolder (Level 2 Standards Apprenticeship)
24 Months – consisting of site work and training at college via block release.
£8.50 an hour & COTS course provided, leading to incremental pay rises
Purpose of role:
To work under the direction and guidance of an experienced supervisor on a range of new and existing buildings.
The job holder will work towards and be expected to achieve a Level 2 qualification in Scaffolding
Key Accountabilities may include:
- Learn the process of understanding drawings and work in accordance with customer requirements.
- Loading and unloading vehicles using correct manual handling methods
- Learn the process of inspecting and tagging scaffolding to ensure it is safe
- Assembling and dismantling a range of different scaffold types to include supported independent, cantilever and mobile platforms.
- Fixing guards rails and safety netting where appropriate
- Ensuring safety measures are put in place to protect other trades and/or members of the public
- Learn the process of inspecting and tagging scaffolding to ensure it is safe
- Attend College on a block release basis, and undertake any additional training as requested
- Take part in the apprentice review process
- Follow Health & Safety policy and procedures, including the wearing of personal protective equipment (PPE) and the use of harnesses for working at height
- Use all tools, equipment and materials safely
- Build and maintain good working relationships with colleagues, customers and managers
Skills, Knowledge and Experience:
- Can understand and follow instructions
- Can work as part of a team
- English and maths qualifications (functional skills or GCSE)
- Good understanding of and willingness to follow safety guidelines at all times
- Can pay close attention to detail
- Can be flexible in work activities, locations and hours of work
- Ability to work in external environments and work at height
